After installing WP Travel, configure the essential plugin settings before adding trips or importing demo content. Proper configuration ensures that your booking system, payment options, emails, and pages work correctly.
Once the basic setup is complete, you can import demo content to quickly build your travel website.
Configure Basic Settings #
Configure the following settings to ensure your travel website is ready to accept bookings.
Currency Settings #
Navigate to:

Configure how prices and currencies are displayed throughout your travel website.

- Currency: Select the currency you want to use for your website.
- If your preferred currency is not listed, refer to the related guide on How to add a new currency in the currencies list option?
- Use Currency Name: Display the currency code instead of the currency symbol on the frontend (e.g., USD instead of $).

- Currency Position: Choose where the currency symbol or code appears in relation to the price.

- Thousand Separator: Specify the character used to separate thousands in displayed prices (for example, 1,000).
- Decimal Separator: Specify the character used to separate the decimal portion of prices (for example, 10.50).
- Number of Decimals: Set the number of decimal places displayed for prices.

Pages #
Navigate to:
WP Travel โ Settings โ General โ Pages
Assign the pages used by WP Travel during the booking process.
- Checkout Page: Select the page used during checkout.
- Dashboard Page: Select the page used for the customer dashboard.
- Thank You Pageย (ย Buy Pro): Select the page customers are redirected to after completing a booking.or more information, please click here.

Create Pages Manually #
If the default pages are unavailable or not functioning correctly, create them manually.

Configure the email settings used for booking notifications.
- From Email: This option allows you to send an Email.
- Remove Powered By Text (Buy Pro): This option allows you to remove โPowered Byโ text for all emails.
- Custom Powered By Text (Buy Pro): This option allows you to add custom footer โPowered Byโ text for all emails.

Tax Options #
Use the Tax Options to configure how taxes are applied to trip prices.
- Enable Tax: Enable or disable tax calculations.
- Trip prices entered with tax:
- Yes, I will enter trip prices inclusive of tax: The trips will include tax according to the defined rate, i.e., the final price of the trip is shown including the tax.
- No, I will enter trip prices exclusive of tax: The trips will not include tax. During checkout, the prices will be increased by tax according to the defined rate.
- Tax Percentage: Specify the tax percentage applied to trip prices.

Manual Demo Import #
After configuring the plugin settings, you can import demo content.
Import FSE Theme Demo #
If you’re using a Full Site Editing (FSE) theme, the recommended approach is to import the complete demo site using the Demo Sites feature. This imports professionally designed templates, pages, navigation menus, styles, and sample trip content in just a few clicks.

Note: If you’re using an FSE-compatible theme, Demo Sites import is recommended instead of manually importing demo files.
Import Demo Files (WP Travel Pro) #
WP Travel Pro includes a built-in Import/Export module that allows you to quickly import demo trips, bookings, and trip extras using CSV files.
Import WordPress Content
- Navigate to Tools โ Import in your WordPress dashboard.
- Upload the provided demo CSV file by dragging and dropping it or selecting it from your computer.
- Complete the import process.
Import Demo CSV Files #
Import the following CSV files using WP Travel โ Import/Export:
- Trips demo file: itineraries2020-02-03-10-16-41
- Booking demo file: itinerary-booking2020-02-03-10-18-49
- Trip Extras demo file: tour-extras2020-02-03-10-20-39
Note: The Import/Export module is available only with WP Travel Pro plugin.
Import Demo Files (Free Users) #
Free users can manually import demo content by using one of our compatible free themes.
- Install the Free Theme: Download and activate one of our free themes from the WordPress theme directory.
- Check the Theme Documentation: Visit the themeโs documentation, where youโll find detailed guides and resources.
- Download Demo Files: Locate the demo file download button in the documentation and click to download the files.
- Follow the Import Guide: Use the step-by-step guide provided to import demo files effortlessly.
Note: The demo package includes sample trips, layouts, taxonomies, and other content to help you get started quickly.
After completing the import, verify that all pages, trips, menus, taxonomies, and other content have been imported successfully. Once confirmed, replace the sample content with your own information and continue customizing your travel website.
