WP Travel Pro includes a powerful built-in AI Content Generator that allows you to create and enhance trip content directly from your WordPress dashboard. By connecting WP Travel Pro with an AI platform such as OpenAI or OpenRouter using your API key, you can instantly generate professional trip descriptions, detailed itineraries, and FAQs while editing trips.
Note: This feature is available since WP Travel Pro v10.1.0.
This feature is designed to help travel agencies and tour operators save time, maintain consistency, and improve content quality across all trip listings.
Enabling the AI Feature #
Step 1: Go to AI Settings #
Go to WP Travel > Settings > Advanced > AI Settings.
Step 2: Choose an AI Platform #
In the AI Platform dropdown, select one of the following:
- OpenAI – Paid option
- OpenRouter – Free with generation limits
Step 3: Add API Key #
Based on the platform you selected:
- Enter your OpenAI API Key if OpenAI is selected
- Enter your OpenRouter API Key if OpenRouter is selected
You can generate the API key from the respective provider’s dashboard.

Step 4: Save Settings #
Save your settings.
Default AI Prompts #
WP Travel provides default AI prompt templates that control how content is generated. These prompts can use dynamic placeholders and can be customized if needed.
Supported Dynamic Placeholders #
The following placeholders can be used in AI prompts:
{trip_title}{trip_location}{trip_type}{trip_activity}{trip_keyword}
These placeholders are automatically replaced with the trip’s data when generating content.
Use AI While Editing Trips #
Once enabled, AI options will be available in supported fields while creating or editing trips, such as:
- Trip Overview
- Trip Outline
- Trip Itinerary
- Trip Include/Excludes
- Trip Itinerary FAQ
- Global FAQ
The AI feature in WP Travel helps save time and improve content quality by generating professional-looking descriptions and itineraries instantly. It is especially useful when creating multiple trips or launching a new travel website.
