The Geo-Location feature in WP Travel Pro automatically detects a userโ€™s location and adjusts the currency accordingly, enhancing the booking experience with localized pricing. In this simple guide, you’ll learn how to enable the Geo-Location in WP Travel.

Steps to Enable Geo-Location:

Step 1: Activate WP Travel Pro

Ensure that the WP Travel Pro plugin is installed and activated on your site.

Step 2: Enable the Multiple Currency Module

Navigate to WP Admin > WP Travel > Settings > Module Settings > Pro Modules. Find and enable the Multiple Currency module.

Step 3: Turn On Geo-Location

Go to WP Admin > WP Travel > Settings > Miscellaneous > Third Party Integrations > Multiple Currency. Enable the Use Geo Location option.

Once enabled, WP Travel will automatically detect your site visitorsโ€™ location and display prices in their local currency.

Note: When Geo-Location is enabled, the Currency Selector will not be visible on the frontend, as the currency is automatically determined based on the userโ€™s location.

On the frontend, a pop-up will appear to confirm the location-based currency change, as shown in the attached screenshot.

Show Currency Selector with Geo-Location

If you want to keep the Currency Selector visible while Geo-Location is enabled, you can use the following hook.

Add this snippet to your child themeโ€™s functions.php file or via a plugin like Code Snippets:

add_filter( 'wp_travel_enable_geo_location_and_currency_switcher', function() {
    return true;
});

This allows visitors to manually switch currencies, even when Geo-Location is active.

Bypass Geo-Location Popup

By default, users will see a pop-up asking to confirm the currency switch. If you’d prefer to skip the popup and automatically switch currencies based on the userโ€™s location, add the following code snippet to your child theme functions.php file or use a plugin like code snippets.

add_filter( 'wptravel_geo_location_confirmation',  function(){
	return true;
});

This will instantly apply the currency change based on the userโ€™s location, without showing the confirmation pop-up.

Conclusion

By following these simple steps, you can now enable the Geo-Location in WP Travel.
